I don't know about you but I like to vary the way that I spend time with God; sometimes I will read large portions of scripture, sometimes not so much! Sometimes I will try and memorize certain passages or more likely verse to be honest and others I will use an internet daily reading (see the links page). You might say that I should stick with one style, but then I would get bored. Imagine if you just had the same conversation with your spouse or friends or just went to the same old places, it would soon get boring, so I’m inclined to think that God like's a bit of variety and creativity. Maybe one style works for you so I'm mot knocking it, just saying I like variety!...

Just another little thought

Just had another little thought about my previous blog. Now I don't want anybody thinking that because we live for an audience of one that it means we can be rude to other people or thinking that we do not need others or need to take their advice. To think such a way would be arrogant and foolish, as I believe that God is pleased when we treat each other with respect etc. ...

how the mighty have fallen

This has not been a good season for English rugby! I'm not talking proper masks but ideates or personas that we seek to "put on” that are not a true representation of who we are. This has been triggered by the fact that I'm going to be doing some of the talks on a youth weekend in the beginning of May, but how many of us so called adults were masks that we picked up in our teens?...

reprimanded!!

It is not until someone actually picks up on the fact that I have not written a blog for a dews days that I realise that there are people who actually read what write! It is a bank holiday and a rare chance to have a lie in and i wake up at 6am! After lying there for half an hour. I got up. After reading a bit of Digital Fortress (I think it is Dan Brown's latest book - not the best but I've started so I'll finish) and waking up, I took the opportunity to have a read of the Bible, in the quietness of the morning. It was quite refreshing....

journeying together

I know that there is this whole side of personal and individual relationship with Jesus which is really important, but there is this whole other side that I wonder if we are prone to neglecting far to often. This is the process of journeying with Jesus together....

pondering the word

I have just spent the last few days preparing my message for Sunday. I'm sure I'm not alone when this has happened. But it is amazing how many of these new products they will get rid of as everyone wants something for free because you see them all flocking towards the marketing people and stand just so they don't miss out!...

traditions

Continued in Mark this morning, really enjoying working my way through the gospels! Just some questions that arose from chapter 7; what are the traditions that get in the way of following Jesus? What traditions have we put on people that makes it difficult to follow Jesus or indeed impossible? Are we more concerned with our outward works and how we look than the heart? ...

rubbish!!!

Ever had one of those days when you just feel down and rubbish? I'm sure you have and I'm not on my own in this but today has been a rubbish day! There is nothing in particular that makes it rubbish it just was. Tried to do some work it was rubbish, tried to do some reading it was rubbish, tried to ponder on the scripture that was rubbish (not the scripture! but my approach to it was!). Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish! Looking forward to tomorrow....
